Mummi in Papua Province

August 24, 2010

Mummi  not only exists in Egypt, but also in Papua province. Papuan mummi  is made by evaporating its human body fluids so it becomes a dry, hard, and rigid body.  In this process, it  is not required ingredients or preservatives.  Dani tribe’s mummi called “Hun” means spirit, that is believed to protect and bring a blessing for its future generations.Someone can be mummi  if during his/her lifetime was very popular such as a head or warlord. Preservation remains to be done as a tribute to charismatic figure mummi.

Prosess of mummi can only be done by couple (a husband and a wife). Husband’s duty is to complete preservation, starting from preparing wood  until  heating a dead body, while wife’task is to prepare food for his husband.  A man uses sharp wood to puncture dead body until all fluids out of the body.

While Dolince Sanadi won a gold medal at STE (Golden Gloves Boxing) in Makassar last March 2010. Be sure to keep your stamina and health, keep practicing and good luck for you all.

Three-year Leadership of Puncak Jaya Regent and Vice Regent Lukas Emenbe and Henok Ibo

July 5, 2010

A surprising new breakthrough led by Regent and Vice Regent of Jayapura is emerging in various sectors. After being inagurated by Papuan Governor  Barnabas Suebu on 28 June 2007 both leaders keep pace with growth of the Puncak Jaya.  For the infrastructure,  they has been helping to renew and build it in rural and urban municipalities across Puncak Jaya ranging from street paving,  the esthablishment of Regent and local House of Representative Offices,  and many others.  Airport as similar as to Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar has been built and it will become the most finest airports in the mountains. Imagine, the street along the Mulia airport as long as 900 meters,  Fawi airport 800 meters and  Beoga airport  500 meters has finished to pave. The driving  from Wamena-Tolikara- Mulia is easier and shorter  and after route from Mulia – Tiom is opening and trip from Wamena to Tiom is only 4 hours, comparing from 10 hours in the past.

For health sector, Puncak Jaya regency has concentrated with development of health centers such as Puskesmas.  In the field of Education, Puncak Jaya regency has 6 billion Rupiah budget,  give more scholarships to Puncak Jaya students both studying in Papua and outside Papua, and has built some dormitories in some cities.  Approximately 500 students graduted from school  have been promoted to be civil servants in Puncak Jaya.  This year, Puncak Jaya has been proclaimed as a City Tour and Mountain Park.  The only obstacle of Puncak Jaya development is come from small perpetrator groups that is Security Disturbance Movement (GPK) TPN / OPM. The activity of TPN/OPM in two districts of Puncak Jaya namely Tingginambut and Yambi District expunge all areas in Puncak Jaya.

Chicken Barapen is one of the most famous Papuan food. Walesi is a name of tribe in Wamena Papua.  They change pork with chicken because many Wamena people are Moslem. The method of cooking is using burnt stone beforehand putting into a drum that is buried in the land. Afterwards, put sweet potatoes, and vegetables on it one by one.  Then put chicken with spice, pour oil on chicken, vegetables, and sweet potatoes evenly.  After that, close the drum by thick plastic heat-resistant.  …….Now, the food is ready to serve.
